Auckland Road Trip - Day Four
Dave Cameron
An amazing resource of wrestling knowledge Dave Cameron and his wife were gracious enough to let us take over their living room with our lights and camera as we sat him down to talk to us for several hours. Dave covered the history of New Zealand Professional Wrestling in the 1940s and 1950s and provided lots of interesting information for the documentary.
Sabrina (Bev Williams)
Sabrina entered the business under the tutelage of former New Zealand Heavyweight Champion Frank Lipanovich and quickly became the biggest attraction in female wrestling in New Zealand during the 1970s. During her time she won 5 Australasian titles, regularly finishing off opponents with her patented "Sabrina Splash". We caught up with Sabrina (or Bev, as she is called nowadays) in Whangarei to interview her. She had also brought along her scrapbook of her wrestling days which she let us scan. It contains some fascinating 'behind the scenes' photos we will include in the documentary.
